Schedule Your Global Entry Interview at CES

 Are you a U.S. citizen or foreign national from select countries who frequently travels internationally? If so, apply for the Global Entry Program and schedule your interview at CES! Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States.  Though intended for frequent international travelers, there is no minimum number of trips necessary to qualify for the program.  Participants may enter the United States by using automated kiosks located at select airports. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency will be at CES January 8 and 9 to conduct interviews. To participate, you must complete the application, schedule your interview at FOLA January 2013 and pay the application fee by December 12. Click here for complete details.

Spotlighting Start-ups at 2013 CES

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced a new program with Startup America Partnership for the 2013 International CES. Startup America, a national network of communities dedicated to advancing the success of American start-ups, will bring programming to show floor. The Startup America Stage will be featured within Eureka Park, an area of more than 140 start-ups, emerging companies and entrepreneurs. 

“Eureka Park will be home to some of the most cutting-edge startups from across the country this year at the 2013 CES,” said Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership. “We’re incredibly excited to bring together startups, investors, large companies and media to highlight the amazing innovations taking place at this world-class event.” Read more.

CEA Webinar to Highlight Holiday Season Shopping Trends

If you think Black Friday is turning into Black November, you aren’t alone. Black Friday deals are being rolled out earlier this year than ever, with many retailers opening on Thanksgiving night. But are consumers responding? CEA predicted 120 million U.S. adults would shop during the 2012 Thanksgiving weekend and spend nearly $44 billion on holiday gifts. Shawn DuBravac, CEA's chief economist and director of research, will highlight results from CEA’s holiday shopping research and examine the weekend’s results in-depth during a CEA webinar starting at 2 p.m. today.

Taking the Pulse of Holiday Shopping Season

The holiday shopping season is quickly approaching.  According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)’s 19th Annual  CE Holiday Purchase Patterns Study, overall holiday spending is expected to increase by 11 percent and spending on consumer electronics (CE) gifts is also likely to increase. Consumer electronics, like tablets and smartphones, continue to be some of the most wanted gifts and three in four holiday gift givers plan on purchasing a consumer electronic product this holiday season.

We Want Your "Best Shots"

Share your best photos for a chance to win a new camera or memory card during the fourth annual CEA "Best Shots" photo contest. This year, CEA is partnering with Eye-Fi in search of the best travel, people, pets and cellphone shots. Winners will be announced January 11 at the 2013 International CES, where all shots will be displayed. A slate of expert judges will select finalists, and winners will be determined by an online popular vote running from January 8 to 11. The grand prize winner will receive a Canon EOS Rebel T3i and an Eye-Fi wireless memory SD card. Top winners in each category will win one of four cameras: Nikon Coolpix P300, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX150, Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 and Fujifilm FinePix F770-EXR. Additionally, all camera prize winners and five additional honorable mention prize winners will receive an Eye-Fi wireless memory SD card to easily upload and share all their best shots right from their camera. Enter by December 16.

Developer University Returns to 2013 CES

So popular it sold out last year, Developer University will be back at 2013 CES. This unique event pairs application developers with platform vendors, creating connections and opportunities. Developer University has expanded for 2013 to accommodate more speakers. Platform vendors may now sign up for speaking slots at devu.ce.org, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
