Note: New this year, keynote addresses will be hosted in two different locations — the Las Vegas Hilton Theater and The Venetian, Level 5, Palazzo Ballroom.

Microsoft Chief Executive Officer

6:30 p.m., The Venetian, Level 5, Palazzo Ballroom

Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer delivered a preshow keynote address at the 2012 International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"We are pleased to welcome Microsoft back to the CES keynote stage," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. "From mobile to desktop to gaming and beyond, Microsoft has a significant impact on all aspects of the consumer technology industry, and Steve Ballmer's keynote is a great way to kick off the exciting 2012 International CES. We are excited to hear Microsoft's latest initiatives and Ballmer's vision for where consumer technology is heading."



Microsoft has used the CES keynote stage in previous years to unveil innovative new products, including the original Xbox and Avatar Kinect.

State of the CE Industry Address and Opening Technology and Evolving Countries (TEC) Keynote

Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, Chairman and CEO of Qualcomm; Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)

8:30 a.m., The Venetian, Level 5, Palazzo Ballroom

Dr. Paul E. Jacobs' keynote will be part of the Technology and Evolving Countries (TEC) Program at the 2012 CES, focused on the role mobile technology plays in global innovation and economic growth in consumer electronics. 

The TEC Program at CES shines a spotlight on technology's critical role in enabling economic, social and political empowerment opportunities for evolving countries and their citizens. Additional TEC sessions will be announced later this fall. To hear Dr. Paul Jacobs' thoughts on the significance of this keynote and what he will cover, please visit his new post on Qualcomm's OnQ blog.

Jacobs was named CEO of Qualcomm in 2005 and was appointed chairman of the Company’s board of directors in 2009. Since joining Qualcomm in 1990, he has spearheaded Qualcomm's efforts to develop and commercialize mobile technology breakthroughs that have contributed significantly to the growth of both the Company and the industry. Noteworthy developments that began under Dr. Jacobs include the first smartphone, the inclusion of GPS capabilities in mobile phones and the creation of the Snapdragon processor.

Dr. Jacobs' keynote is slated for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, in The Venetian, following a State of the CE Industry keynote address delivered by Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA, the U.S. trade association representing more than 2,000 consumer electronics companies and owning and producing the International CES.


Shapiro led the industry in its successful transition to HDTV. He co-founded and chaired the HDTV Model Station and served as a leader of the Advanced Television Test Center (ATTC). He is a charter inductee to the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers, and received its highest award as the industry leader most influential in advancing HDTV. He focused on the need for and led the effort to obtain the 2009 cut-off date of analog broadcasting. He has received annual recognition from The Hill since 2006 as a "top lobbyist" in Washington. Also, Washington Life magazine has named him one of the 100 most influential people in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Dieter Zetsche

Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars

Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, delivered a keynote address at the 2012 International CES. The 2012 show marks Mercedes-Benz' first International CES keynote address.

Dieter Zetsche was named Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG in January 2006. He has held several executive positions since joining Daimler AG's research division in 1976, including chief engineer of Mercedes-Benz, Brazil, president of Mercedes-Benz, Argentina and president of Freightliner, USA. In 2000, he became CEO and president of the Chrysler Group. Dr. Zetsche has been a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG since December 1998.



"Dieter Zetsche is an iconic and instrumental leader in the automotive sector, where innovative technology unveiled each year at CES is a vital component of today's driving experience," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. Paul Otellini

President and CEO of Intel Corporation

4:30 p.m., The Venetian, Level 5, Palazzo Ballroom

Paul Otellini, president and chief executive officer of Intel Corporation delivered his keynote address on Day One of the 2012 CES, Tuesday, January 10, at 4:30 p.m. in The Venetian (Level 5, Palazzo Ballroom).

Paul Otellini became Intel Corporation's fifth chief executive officer in May 2005. Since joining Intel in 1974, Otellini has managed several Intel businesses, including the company's PC and server microprocessor division and the global sales and marketing organization. Under Otellini's leadership, Intel aims to create and extend computing technology to connect and enrich the lives of every person on earth.

CES Innovation Power Panel

Xerox Corp., Verizon Enterprise Solutions and Ford Motor Company

9 a.m., Las Vegas Hilton Theater

Xerox Chairman and CEO Ursula Burns, Ford Motor Company President and CEO Alan Mulally, and Verizon Enterprise Solutions President John Stratton joined the 2012 International CES keynote lineup as participants in the CES Innovation Power Panel.



The CES Innovation Power Panel will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, January 11 in the Las Vegas Hilton Theater. In a lively and informative discussion moderated by CEA President and CEO Shapiro, these visionary executives will discuss how a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship has made them global leaders in their industries.

Ursula Burns, chairman and CEO of Xerox Corporation, has been with Xerox since 1980. She began her career with the company as a mechanical engineering summer intern before working her way up to lead various organizations including Xerox's global research as well as product development, marketing and delivery. She was named CEO in July 2009 and has since been instrumental in driving the acquisition of Affiliated Computer Services, which has transformed Xerox into the world’s leading enterprise for business process and document management. Burns has been recognized for her leadership by both Fortune and Forbes magazine’s "Most Powerful Women" lists. Also, under Ursula’s watch Xerox has been named to Bloomberg Businessweek's "The World's 25 Most Inventive Companies."

Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Ford Motor Company, joined Ford in 2006, after serving as executive vice president of The Boeing Company and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. He is known for his innovative and focused industry leadership, while working to transform Ford into a lean, global enterprise. He has served as a past president of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and is a former president of its Foundation. Mulally was named Chief Executive Magazine’s "CEO of the Year" in 2011, "Businessperson of the Year" by the readers of Fortune Magazine in 2010, one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2009 and "Person of the Year" in 2006 by Aviation Week magazine.

John Stratton is executive vice president and president – Verizon Enterprise, in charge of Verizon Enterprise Solutions. The organization oversees all of Verizon's solutions for business and government customers, including its portfolio of enterprise mobility, cloud and IT, strategic networking and advanced communications offerings. In addition, Verizon Enterprise Solutions oversees specialized solutions for key industries such as health care, travel and transportation, retail, utilities and financial services; IT consulting services; and Verizon’s full range of global wholesale offerings. Before being named to his current position, which he assumed on Jan. 1, 2012, Stratton was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless company in the United States. He was responsible for the company's nationwide operations and delivery of industry-leading performance for consumer, business, government and enterprise customers.

Hans Vestberg

President and Chief Executive Officer of Ericsson

Hans Vestberg, president and chief executive officer, Ericsson Group, delivered a keynote address at the 2012 International CES.



Hans Vestberg was named president and chief executive officer of the Ericsson Group in January 2010. Vestberg oversees the company’s 90,000 employees throughout 180 countries. Since joining Ericsson in 1991, Vestberg has been instrumental in developing the company’s industry-leading services operation, which today represents 39 percent of Ericsson’s total sales. Vestberg is focused on advancing the company’s leadership through innovation, technology, services and sustainable business solutions.

“Ericsson is a global leader in mobile broadband and telecommunications technologies and services and we are thrilled to welcome Hans Vestberg to the CES keynote stage,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Ericsson has grown into a market leader with its equipment powering broadband networks for more than 1,000 service providers in 180 countries. With more than forty percent of the world’s mobile traffic passing through Ericsson’s equipment, this dynamic company will share its vision of our mobile broadband future.”

Brand Keynote

AT&T's David Christopher, General Electric's (GE) Beth Comstock, Facebook's Carolyn Everson, Walmart's Stephen Quinn, Hyundai's Steve Shannon and Unilever's Keith Weed

AT&T’s David Christopher, General Electric’s (GE) Beth Comstock, Facebook’s Carolyn Everson, Walmart’s Stephen Quinn, Hyundai’s Steve Shannon and Unilever’s Keith Weed join the 2012 International CES keynote line-up as participants in the Brand Keynote Panel.



The Brand Keynote Panel, scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11 in the Las Vegas Hilton Theater, brings together executives from the world’s top brands to discuss marketing and brand strategy on a global scale.
The keynote will be moderated by Michael Kassan, chairman and CEO of MediaLink LLC. Since founding the company in 2004, Kassan has built MediaLink LLC into a leading advisory firm that provides sage counsel to the media, entertainment, and technology industries. MediaLink LLC is also bringing the CMO Club to CES, an exclusive new program to introduce marketing executives to the CE industry and the International CES from an executive level perspective.

David Christopher is the chief marketing officer of mobility and consumer markets for AT&T Wireless. He leads the company’s marketing strategy, wireless advertising and media, customer lifecycle management, product management, national promotions and pricing.

Beth Comstock, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of General Electric, oversees GE’s sales, marketing and communications functions, as well as the company’s growth and market-innovation initiatives. Comstock is also responsible for the GE-wide business platforms ecomagination, devoted to environmental innovation.

Carolyn Everson is the vice president of global marketing solutions at Facebook, where she leads the global marketing solutions team. She works with the top brands globally to help them leverage the Facebook platform to grow their business.

Stephen Quinn was named executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Walmart U.S. in 2007. He is responsible for Walmart’s marketing functions, including customer research, strategy, e-commerce marketing, private brands and customer communications.

Steve Shannon was named vice president of marketing for Hyundai Motor America in April 2011, having previously spent more than 25 years at General Motors. Shannon oversees all of Hyundai’s marketing activities within the United States.

Keith Weed is chief marketing and communications officer of Unilever responsible for Unilever’s marketing, communications and sustainability functions. He also leads the Unilever Corporate Brand and Unilever’s global water business functions.

Vice President of Global Content Partnerships at YouTube

Robert Kyncl, vice president of global content partnerships at YouTube, delivered the Entertainment Matters keynote address at the 2012 International CES.



Kyncl has been a driving force in bringing even more original entertainment to YouTube's existing channel lineup. At the Entertainment Matters keynote, Kyncl and friends will discuss the tremendous opportunity for the web as a distribution vehicle, and how we envision the entertainment ecosystem evolving over time. The keynote is slated for 10 a.m. Thursday, January 12, in the Las Vegas Hilton Theater.
