CES is the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, and it's showing its high-tech muster with a revamp of its official website, CESweb.org.The new site brings the intensity and energy of the show's floor right to your computer screen months before the show starts. We know the economy has impacted everybody’s wallet. So in each issue of CES Up to the Minute, we’ll give you at least one way to save money. This time around, we’re going to tell you how registering early can save $100 or $200 a person – which can add up for companies who send a fleet of consumer technology professionals to the show in January.

The fee structure for admission to all exhibits, TechZones, SuperSessions, keynotes and selected conference sessions is different this year. Please take note of these important dates:
Before November 1, 2008: $0.00
November 1, 2008-January 2, 2009 (5 p.m. EST): $100
January 2, 2009 (5:01 p.m. EST)-On-site registration: $200.00

Remember, the International CES is not open to the general public, and all attendees must be in the consumer electronics industry to be eligible to attend the show. Spouses, friends and family who accompany you to Las Vegas will not be granted access to the International CES unless they are over the age of 16 and have proof of industry affiliation.
Two forms of identification are required to enter the show floor:
- One personal picture ID such as a driver's license or passport
- One business ID such as a business card, pay stub or statement on company letterhead indicating that you are representing that company at International CES
Intel chairman Craig Barrett and Cisco chairman and CEO John Chambers, two long-time advocates for education and sustainable development in emerging countries, share the keynote stage at the 2009 International CES. Barrett and Chambers will speak at the 2009 International CES as part of the second annual Technology and Emerging Countries Program (TEC), which focuses on the role technology plays to further economic growth.“The Technology and Emerging Countries program at CES is an excellent opportunity for industry and government leaders to discuss technology’s impact on developing economies and share ideas for future advancement,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Craig Barrett and John Chambers are long-time advocates for education and sustainable development in emerging countries. Get late-breaking news first by adding the RSS feed to your Facebook, My Yahoo! and iGoogle pages or other personal Web site or aggregator. New to RSS feeds? Let us tell you what they are and how to set them up.What is an RSS feed? Real Simple Syndication is a tool that will alert you when new content has been added to our news feed. CES frequently posts new information, and by using our RSS feed, you can glance over new items added to the site and read information relevant to your business.
The CES RSS feed will supply you with a title, brief summary of the content and a link to the complete item on CESweb.org.
How does it work? RSS feeds are received by a news aggregator or news reader—programs that will display our updates in a convenient and easy-to-read manner.
Choose a news reader that is right for you. There are a variety of options:
- Web-based aggregators accessible from any computer.
- Customizable feeds such as MyYahoo or MyAOL.
- Aggregators that can be downloaded to your desktop or controlled through an Outlook account.
- Aggregators that push feeds directly to your e-mail account.
Download or subscribe to a news aggregator and follow its instructions to add CESweb.org to your daily reading.
For MyYahoo!: Sign in to your MyYahoo! page and select “Add Content.” Then select “Add RSS feed,” and paste http://feeds.cesweb.org/CESrss into the field that appears.
For Facebook: Get instructions and details from Facebook.
For iGoogle: From your iGoogle homepage, select “Add Stuff” in the top right corner. In the “Search for Gadgets” box, search for “RSS.” A number of RSS applications pop up. We prefer “Simple RSS Reader” because it’s, well, simple! Once you select “Add it now,” paste in the link http://CESweb.org/rssNews.xml and any other parameters you’d like.
CES hotels are now accepting reservations for the 2009 CES. As a reminder, CES does not have an official housing agency or bureau. Attendees are responsible for contacting CES hotels directly via CESweb.org to book rooms. More than three dozen Vegas properties offer discounts for CES attendees. "No vacancy" signs are starting to appear for CES show days (January 8-11), however, so learn more about how to book your room.CES goers can book single reservations online or can book blocks of 10 or 20 rooms, depending on the property. Six properties offer nightly rates under $200 for show days.
